Captain Dave Sliter has worked at Pictured Rocks Cruises for nearly 40 years. He has been a "Yooper” since the day he was born in Munising Memorial Hospital, exploring the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in large and small boats, by foot, and on snowshoes and skis. Captain Dave has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and enjoys continually learning about the cliffs and the natural flora and fauna around the Munising area. It would be difficult to find someone who knows more about the Pictured Rocks area of the Lake Superior lakeshore than Captain Dave.

Karen Sliter is Captain Dave’s wife and partner in adventures of all kinds. As a veterinarian and zoonotic disease expert, she served as a United States Diplomat for nearly 30 years, retiring from the Senior Foreign Service with Career Minister rank and numerous awards to her credit, including a Presidential Rank award. She is now working for the United Nations.
